I create these custom designed eyeglass cases for the pure enjoyment of it. They are fun to do. They are artistic, functional and long-lasting.
My actual career is not as an artist, but as a Registered Nurse. I began painting eyeglass cases while working as a Travel Nurse, visiting all parts of the United States for assignments lasting 3 to 6 months. My assignments included Virginia, Maui Hawaii, around the Monterey Peninsula in northern California, UCLA in Los Angeles, and Gallup, New Mexico. I enjoyed each one for various and differing reasons.
I first started painting my eyeglass cases because I just didn’t like that bland solid black case that comes with a pair of glasses. I was on a travel assignment on Maui, Hawaii, in 2002, and the owner at a boutique saw one of my cases and asked me to paint some cases for her to sell. That was the start of my artistic career. She continues to sell my cases today.
I have settled down outside Bennett, Colorado; and am working as a school nurse in the Denver area.
In 2004, I entered my first art fair. I usually try to exhibit at between one and four art shows each year. They are generally a lot of hard work; but it is so very nice to meet people that enjoy my cases and wallets.
